Hello, fellow investors and market enthusiasts! My name is A.J., and I am the founder behind Investify Letter, your new Substack newsletter focused on long-term investing, fintech breakthroughs, and battle-tested strategies for navigating the financial world. If you’ve followed me over from X at @InvestifyDaily then you are already aware of the content that I post. I personally thank you all for joining this deeper dive—here, we can explore ideas that go beyond 280 characters and the noise we often hear on social media platforms.

For newcomers, get ready for a mix of insights, analysis, and practical advice designed to help you build lasting wealth. To keep things straightforward, I’ll give a brief summary of my personal spotlight for the most part (my actual bio will be for another time) and jump into the core of what drives this newsletter and what to expect. My background is as an Officer in the United States Air Force, primarily as a Program Manager, where I have been molded in my career to build upon discipline, strategy, and adaptability in a high-stress environment. Whether it’s supporting global operations in times of conflict or managing a hundred-million-dollar portfolio rollouts across the globe to deliver warfighting capabilities and security to American and Allied service members worldwide.

Since I joined the military many years ago, I have also translated the high operations tempo and mindset into the realm of investing. Think of it as applying mission planning or having strategic objectives to your brokerage or 401(k) portfolio—assessing risks, analyzing scope and cost, while executing with precision and adapting to constantly changing conditions like global stock markets. My experience in the military has gone hand in hand with my financial journey, and oddly enough, it is very similar.

There is a reason why both the best investors and the best military members succeed: it’s not always about knowing the best play or having all the right data. Let’s be real—in both military and finance, things can change in an instant. Moreover, it’s about mastering systems under pressure. From analyzing data for mission success to maintaining focus and holding conviction amid uncertainty, those experiences forged a mindset that’s perfect for the stock market. Long-term investing demands the same: patience through volatility, strategic allocation of resources, and a commitment to objectives over short-term distractions.

My passion for investing has truly been similar to my passion for service in the military, evolving from basic savings to a deep dive into value and growth strategies. Inspired by timeless principles from investors like Warren Buffett, I emphasize companies with strong fundamentals and enduring advantages. For my mindset I like to take a page from Brigadier General Anthony McAuliffe who’s 101st Airborne Division was surrounded during the Battle of the Bulge, when he was asked by the German’s to surrender he replied “Nuts!”. These infamous words solidified the legend of the 101st Airborne as George Patton’s Army relieved them and the 101st held out and never surrendered. For a lot of us we feel like we are surrounded and defeated in in the world of investments, it is important for us to hold firm at times and hold your line.

For readers or anyone looking to build upon their personal financial situation, it takes mental fortitude and navigating difficulties to get to where you want. If anything, investing has taught me that it is a long game, and success will ultimately take time. It should be in everyone’s self-interest to become financially free someday in their lives—to live life on your own accord and to ultimately be free. The essence of the freedoms many service members fight for is the freedom for all to live a life in the pursuit of happiness, as our U.S. Declaration of Independence states.

This letter is solely about my journey as it is and my commentary, based upon my current real-world experience serving in the Air Force and how my experience translates into the realm of pursuing my own financial freedom. Many are on the path to financial freedom, and it takes years of hard work like any task in this world. My hope is that you all can join me on this journey, share your own experiences, reach out, and build a community.

Investing isn’t easy—it takes stomach and guts—and there will be times where you will feel down and want to give up hope. I plan to share my personal journey with you all to give all who read this inspiration and to hopefully build the mental fortitude to develop resilience while investing.I will share stocks and companies that I enjoy, thoughts on real-world and global events, and just share the journey I am on personally with all.

I want to help those who are on their path to financial freedom as well—or any other pursuit for that matter—and to highlight that growth comes from being able to stomach difficult times and is molded through perseverance. Remember, gold is made through the fires.
